37TH AMERICA'S CUP OFFICIAL RACING SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Event kick-off on August 22nd with the Final Preliminary Regatta
The publication of the official racing calendar by America's Cup Events (ACE) is a significant turning point for all teams participating in the 37th America's Cup: the two-month schedule details a highly concentrated series of events that will require great effort and concentration for all involved.
The curtain rises on August 22nd with the event Opening Ceremony and the start of the third and final Preliminary Regatta. This is a highly anticipated moment as for the first time the challenging teams will race their new AC75 boats.
Four days later the Challenger Selections Series (Louis Vuitton Cup) will begin and run through October 5th. The Selection Series includes two elimination rounds (Round Robins) where each team meets all the other teams twice. The five challengers, together with Emirates Team New Zealand, will compete, although the results of the matches against the Defender will not count toward the ranking. At the end of the rounds the lowest-ranking team will be eliminated, while the other four will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for Sept. 14-19 in a best-of-nine series (the first team to reach five victories wins). The top team will be able to choose its opponent.
The finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup will take place from September 26th to October 5th and will be at the best of 13 races (the first to reach 7 victories wins): the winning team will be the challenger entitled to compete against defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup Match, to take place from October 12-21 (but if necessary this can last until October 27th), to the best of 13 races.
Within this busy time frame, reserved for the "official" America's Cup teams, is also the series of events dedicated to youth and women – who will race on board the AC40 one-design boats.
The races for the 12 teams participating in the Youth and Puig Women's America's Cup include fleet races and a match race final between the two top teams.
The Youth America's Cup final will take place between races 1 and 2 of the Louis Vuitton Cup Final (on September 26th, 2024), while the Puig Women's America’s Cup final is scheduled between races 3 and 4 of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup (on October 13, 2024).
