LUNA ROSSA... AND BLUE!
Cagliari, February 21 2019 - A special guest visited the Luna Rossa base yesterday. Soccer player Leonardo Pavoletti, top striker for the Cagliari Calcio soccer team, met with the Luna Rossa crew whose base has been established in Cagliari in preparation for the 36th edition of the America’s Cup.
The whole team, led by Max Sirena, Skipper and Team Director, and tactician Vasco Vascotto, welcomed the rossoblù football player at Molo Ichnusa. Both sports share common grounds: from good teamwork to manage difficulties “in rough waters”, to physical preparation techniques. Speaking of which, Leonardo also visited the gym while the sailors were at work on grinding machines and strength and resistance exercises.
A fitting backdrop for the exchange of team stories and anecdotes was the sea of Cagliari with the stadium in the background. To close the visit, a final outing on the Luna Rossa chase boat with the athletes who took the opportunity for some unusual head-strikes in the middle of the sea. Back on shore Vasco Vascotto and Leonardo Pavoletti exchanged the autographed t-shirts of their teams.
