Alessandro graduated in 2008 in Materials Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Specializing in advanced composite materials, he has extensive experience in CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) structural design and research and development of composite materials and manufacturing technologies. He started working in 2007 as a researcher in aerospace engineering at CRC-ACS in Melbourne, Australia. Highlights in his career include involvement in the design of the Volvo70s of Team Groupama, Puma Racing and Team Telefonica for the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race. In 2013 he entered the America's Cup and, since then, has participated in every edition, (2013 Artemis, 2017 ETNZ, 2021 Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli), winning the 35th in 2017 with Emirates Team New Zealand. The 2024 one will be his fourth America's Cup, his second with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and playing the piano.
