A YEAR OF SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre: Achievements and Objectives for 2024
The battle for the protection of the sea and the environment is a cause that Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli has been campaigning for a long time and for three years they have been fighting alongside Ogyre, the first global "fishing for litter" platform, actively supporting local fishing communities engaged in the daily collection of marine waste.
For 2024, the year of the America's Cup, we have set the common goal of reaching a total of 16,000 kg of marine litter collected. However, we have already surpassed significant milestones through a series of broad initiatives aimed at raising public awareness about ocean pollution.
By choosing to use as many channels as possible to broaden the audience for our message, we have implemented various activities within the "Sea Forward" program consisting of educational, artistic, and scientific projects.
Throughout 2023, some team members participated in the initiatives "Team up for the Ocean" and "Ocean Spotlight" to emphasize the danger of microplastics in the sea and the importance of taking action to reverse the course.
In June, at the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli base in the port of Cagliari, the workshop "One human’s trash is another human’s treasure" was organized with the international artist Max Lamb: a creative laboratory designed to think outside the box and promote the concept of circular economy by giving a second life to waste abandoned at sea and on beaches.
Finally, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre are about to launch a scientific research project aimed at studying the effects of microplastics on the environment and our daily lives.
We close the current year with the satisfaction of having done our part for the preservation of the oceans, but well-aware that there is still a long way to go. Our wish is that more and more people can understand the risks of pollution and join our fight to help the blue planet.
